This activity provides Trainees and other graduate students early exposure to diverse career options and opportunities in the national biomedical workforce beyond academia. We invite speakers from a diverse array of careers to expose our students to the range of career opportunities available with a PhD in the biomedical sciences. During a public presentation, speakers talk about their current positions, how they got there, aspects of their job they enjoy and dislike, and how one goes about exploring career opportunities in these and related careers. This allows our students to get a realistic perspective of the diverse career opportunities in the biomedical workforce. After a public presentation, students with a particular interest in that career interact with the speaker over lunch. These informal discussions provide an excellent platform for networking and are well attended and utilized.
